Financial Analyst

The Opportunity

Joining an established Brisbane-based finance team on a 6-month contract, you will step into a role focused on operational data, continuous improvement, and month-end support. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role offers a great blend of hands-on technical accounting and business partnering without the management overhead.

Your Impact

• Insurance Claim Support: Take ownership of data gathering and financial analysis to support a major, ongoing insurance claim, working closely with the Insurance Manager and external brokers.
• Continuous Improvement & Power BI: Review and rebuild reporting structures from scratch for a newly transitioned portfolio. You will use Power BI and Power Query to turn legacy issues into streamlined reporting outcomes.
• Business Partnering & BAU: Act as the finance partner, helping managers understand cost drivers, managing POs/work orders, and assisting with month-end coverage.

About You

• Experience: Ideally 5-10 years of experience in a Financial Analyst or Management Accountant role. You are still "on the tools," love digging into the data, and enjoy being a hands-on individual contributor.
• Systems: Proficiency as a user of SAP and Power BI/Power Query is essential (you don't need to build complex DAX formulas from scratch, but you must know how to navigate and manipulate the data).
• Industry: Prior experience within the Energy, Resources, Mining, or Heavy Industry sectors is advantageous.
